Heck, the scoreboard more than says it all. It can't get any more emphatic than this, can it?
This match'll definately go down in man utd's history pages as one of the most significantly sublime and penultimate showcasing of their strength in depth (they were without 3-4 key players on the pitch itself), ruthless and effective attacking qualities, unflinching selflessness shown in the form of superb teamwork, sleek pasing, holding on to ball possesion, and deadly, ultra-pacy counter attacks.
Formation: 4-2-3-1. Ronaldo, Rooney and Ryan Giggs plied the attacking upper-end of the attacking midfield to devastating effect. They nonchalantly ran Roma ragged; to the ground.
What a match. Fletcher was superb, solid at containing Mancini. Giggs was classy and sublime through-and-through. Rooney roamed the pitch like he owned it. Carrick boasted the midfield from start to finish; putting 2 technically superb goals in between. Alan Smith, better known as Smudgey, worked tirelessly to wear down the Roma rearguard.
And of course there's only one Ronaldo, who rode tackles so effortlessly it was a joy to watch, relished everything thrown his way was deservingly named MOTM. He even capped off the evening with 2 well taken goals to his name.
I wished I was there at the Stretford shouting anthems at the top of my voice till it turns hoarse, to savour first-hand the sheer delirium of 74 700-odd like-minded passionate fans.
Heck, if Man Utd were to put in a display as scintillating as this week in week out, my condolences to the opposition, whoever you might turn out to be.
Glory, glory Man United.
